Jamestown Police Department

Our Mission

To enhance the quality of life in Jamestown by reducing crime, enforcing the law with integrity and fairness, and building strong relationships with the community we serve.

Chief of Police Brian White

The Town of Jamestown is proud to welcome Brian White as the Chief of Police for the Jamestown Police Department.

Chief White, 48, was born in Sumter, South Carolina, and raised in Clarendon County. He began his law enforcement career in 1999 at the age of 21 with the Town of Vance Police Department. Since then, he has dedicated more than 27 years to serving and protecting communities across South Carolina.

Early in his career, Chief White joined the Orangeburg Police Department, where he served for six years as a K-9 Officer. During his tenure, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police while also serving as an active member of the SWAT Team and as a criminal investigator. His time in Orangeburg provided extensive experience in tactical operations, criminal investigations, and departmental leadership.

Chief White later served with the Town of Jamestown Police Department before experiencing the tragic loss of his wife in an automobile accident. Despite this difficult chapter in his life, he remained committed to public service and continued building an exceptional career in law enforcement.

Over the next 13 years, Chief White served with several agencies, including the Towns of Santee, St. George, and Summerton. Throughout those years, he held a variety of supervisory and specialized assignments, including criminal investigations, drug interdiction, officer training, traffic enforcement, and departmental leadership. His broad range of experience has equipped him with the knowledge and leadership necessary to serve communities of all sizes while emphasizing professionalism, accountability, and community-oriented policing.

In 2025, after completing an extensive portfolio of law enforcement certifications and specialized training, Chief White earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, reflecting his lifelong commitment to professional development and excellence in public service.

Most recently, Chief White served as the Acting Chief of Police for the Town of Ridgeway. After a year of leading that department, he made the decision to return closer to home and accepted the opportunity to serve the Town of Jamestown—a close-knit community where he believes strong relationships between law enforcement and residents are the foundation of effective policing.

With more than 27 years of law enforcement experience, Chief White brings proven leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to public safety. His vision for the Jamestown Police Department is built on community engagement, transparency, and proactive policing while ensuring that every resident, business owner, and visitor feels safe and supported.

The Town of Jamestown is honored to welcome Chief Brian White back to our community and looks forward to the leadership, experience, and dedication he brings to the Jamestown Police Department.
